Record Breaking Lotto Jackpot

Half a billion dollars is the forecast total for the US Powerball Lottery Jackpot Prize.  Its expected that people will be buying up far more tickets than they would usually buy as its such a massive pot of cash that is up for grabs.  What would happen if it is yet another rollover is anyones guess.

For the second time this year, a multi-state USA lottery is setting an imporessive record, this time it is Powerball and their is an amazing jackpot total of $500 million up for grabs yes thats half a billion dollars a sum of money one would associate with the rich list.

Reports are suggesting Powerball ticket sales skyrocketed before Saturdays lotto draw and they will continue to climb as we get closer to the Wednesday night Powerball draw. Despite the fact tickets cost $2 and the odds of winning are just 1 in 175,223,510, according to the Powerball website players are still hoping lightening can strike and bring them a win.

A nice spin off bit of news is that a very considerate New Jersey group devastated by the recent Hurricane Sandy have said if they were to win it they would give up a major slice to local needs.

Lottery agents will stop selling for the Powerball at 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday to prepare for the drawing at 10:59 p.m. In April, the Mega Millions jackpot rose to a record $656 million ($473 million cash before taxes) and was won by people in three states - Maryland, Kansas, and Illinois. Ticket sales for Mega Millions in were red hot, with thousands of dollars worth of tickets being purchased every minute.
